This is noise everyone. It’s an insignificant cost unless you think TSLA will have a similar size recall each year that can’t be solved with a software update. The investment focus should be on strong 4Q delivs and production on Sunday.
Never apply a P/E to a one time cost (or revenue). That’s why release of FSD Accrued Revs or Deferred Taxes would be viewed as one-time as well. The impact of a one time item is Rev or Cost x (1 - TaxRt)/ FD shares. Here, it’s 350K x $200 x (1-15%) / 1.15B shares = $.05.
Since my first purchase of $TSLA in Oct 2019, I’ve only been this confident about TSLA fundamentals once - Dec 2019. The set up is the same: mnfg capacity doubling, huge TAM expansion (M-Y to EU, CyTrck late-2022), credit upgrades, WS woefully low on next year EPS ($12 vs $8.66).
